A personal look into Nova, the nation's sweetheart

Being the only girl from a set of triplets, Nova had been a very shy and reserved as a child. She was scared of ladybugs and dragonflies, always had nervous jitters before every class presentation activity, and rarely took front-facing pictures unless at the behest of her mother.

So how did the young lady make her way into stardom and become the nation’s sweetheart? “I lost a bet with a friend,” Nova laughs, “The deal was that I had to go to the open call auditions for a school life show produced by an indie film company.” In order to not disappoint her friends, Nova practiced the audition roles diligently. Unexpectedly, the audition judges asked her to sing for them, which was definitely not part of the announcements. “I was so flustered! I had to ask them to if I could bring a curtain to turn the room into a blind audition setup.” The judges happily obliged, much to Nova’s surprise. That movie, would turn out to be an international hit and propelled Nova into the spotlight.

The richness of Nova’s voice stirs a blend of melancholy and hope in the audience. No one can deny the tugging of their heartstrings as they listen to her current chart-topping single, “A Sunflower’s Smile”. “I draw a lot of my inspiration from observing the environment around me. People, places, things, how they interact with each other, then I try to think about what can be said about them.” Nova says that she considers her quiet nature as a strength: “My twin brothers have always told me that because I don’t talk much, people find me ‘chill’ and are more comfortable to approach me and open up.”

Still, the young star believes that she still has a long way to go. “I still get more exhausted than my peers when we’re doing live performances, meet-and-greets, and even when it’s just an internal team event. But I’m going to do my best and keep working hard, all thanks to everyone who have supported me so far.”
